Abstract
Steven Spielberg, Mark Burnett and DreamWorks TV bring a new show called on the lot to Fox Television. The show takes many contestants who are wanna be film makers, who may or may not have done some quality film work prior to the contest. As the contests are picked they all must begin making their own 30 second clips to show off to the Judges, who in turn rate or criticize their work. Then each week the public votes on their favourites and those who don't win over the public will lose out. The judges are Carrie Fisher, Brett Ratner, Garry Marshall and Jon Avnet.

The show started with auditions then moved onto 15 contestants, all who make a 30 second clip to show of their work. The next episode recaped the previous night before eliminating the first 3 contestants. Fox ended up in 5th spot that night and critics were all bashing the show in one way or another as Fox began to revise it's schedule to drop the Vote Off. Calling it an American Idol copy the show is expected to last till August 13th, with the winner getting an all paid made for tv movie to direct. This will be their chance to shine as the episode 3 introduced us to some talented people. If one of these guys learns enough over the next few months they will get their chance. The show is presented well and is definitely worth watching, do not pay attention to the critics as the show not only introduces new directors but new actors. Maybe one of the actors will make it as well so for those who support movies and actors they should watch this show. Fox is not about to drop a Steven Spielberg production so you will see it each week on various days.
