INTERVIEW Q&A
When did you first start to sing?
When I was 4 I wrote my first song: “Pillow Mommy, Pillow Daddy”
I think it’s a hit!
Do you have any formal singing training?
No, it is a NATURAL gift from GOD!!
What other talents do you have?
Dancer: Ballet, Point, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Fosse,
Hip/Hop, and Salsa…..
If you don’t make it on AMERICAN IDOL, what will you do?
I will either stay in California to work on my career, or move to NYC
to audition for shows.
What are your personal goals in life?
To make it into the top 5 of American Idol, have a flourishing career
in performing arts, to be happily married with children. I want to be
in the arts in whatever facet of the business that may be.
What album would your friends be surprised you own?
Tod Rudgren’s Greatest Hits. MY friends know how eclectic my music
tastes are and what a strange bird I am, actually I don’t think
that would surprise them.
What is the first CD you ever bought?
Hmmm Whitney Houston- “Whitney”
What is in your CD player right now?
Tina Turner’s "What’s Love Got to Do With it", Whitney,
OUTKAST "The Love Below,” Led Zeppelin, Prince “Greatest
Hits.”
Who is your AMERICAN IDOL?
Don’t have one.
What is your favorite type of music?
Depending on mood it changes. I have noticed that I will go for weeks
or months at a time listening to hip/hop, then it will change and I will
listen to classic rock, then show tunes, or salsa.
What is your favorite song to sing?
MY rendition of “ Let There be Peace on Earth”, “Woman
from Smokey Joe’s,” “Mr. Monotony,” “Sweet
Georgia Brown,” any Prince song and bits and pieces of other songs.
Favorite male pop artist?
Justin Timberlake or Prince.
Favorite female pop artist?
Beyonce
Favorite album of all time?
OUTKAST “The Love Below” and LED ZEPPELIN.
Who in the music world do you think your style is most like?
Alicia Keys / Bonnie Raitt / Tina Turner.
Most embarrassing moment?
I was so nervous for pretty much my entire year of kindergarten so the
bus driver had to pull over every morning on my way to school so I could
get off the bus and puke. Eventually my mom sent me to school with a plastic
bag. I am not sure if that was more embarrassing for my siblings or for
myself seeing as I was only 5.
If you couldn’t sing, which talent would you most like to have?
Draw.
What has been your proudest moment in life so far?
Taking care of my Meme after she was diagnosed with cancer for 8 ½
months and making it this far in the competition. This has been my dream
since I was a child and not everyone can say they have accomplished their
dreams. Just the simple fact that I tried and will never have to deal
with the question "what if?"
What is your definition of an AMERICAN IDOL?
A well-rounded performer. Someone who can captivate the audience with
not only talent but personality.
Why do you want to be an AMERICAN IDOL?
It is in my blood. I have no choice. This is a great experience for exposure
and to learn so much more about the business. I want to be able to perform
to show the world what I am made of, what a real show is all about, hee
hee. I have so many layers and a still haven’t figured them all
out. Also, I love shoes and accessories…HELLO! IF I WERE THE AMERICAN
IDOL I COULD AFFORD THEM ALL! Hee hee!
Who is your favorite judge and why?
Hmmm…thus far after meeting them all I think they are a great team,
they compliment each other nicely. Simon for his bluntness and attention
to detail, Paula for her encouragement and keeping the men in line, and
Randy who evens them out with a little bit of both.
Who is your least favorite judge and why?
N/A
What advice do you have for other hopefuls?
If at first you don’t succeed try try again." I auditioned
in Georgia and didn’t even make it through the first round and then
went to NYC and it has been smooth sailing thus far. Everything happens
for a reason.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
